Artist In Residence, National Museum of Wildlife Art

 2025  in Jackson Hole, WY

Doris will be weaving a tapestry inspired by the Absoroka Mountain Range in the entrance to the Museum from July 7 through 11th, from 11:00 to 3:00 each day.

Doris invites visitors to the museum to watch her weave. Better yet, whether you are an experienced weaver or not,  pick up a shuttle. Doris will show you how to weave a few rows of the touring Mother Tree Project. It is a 16′ growing fiber sculpture of a pine tree, with a conservation message about the need to preserve our environment.

Day 1: Weaving People Together – Introduction to the Mother Tree Project

Day 2: Needle Felting Experience – Making felted Pine Cones and wraping branches for the Mother Tree. Add your piece to the Mother Tree.

Day 3: Finger Weaving like the Indigenous People of the Pacific Northwest and New Zealand/Taniko. Add your piece to the Mother Tree.

Day 4: Spinning, wrapping wool branches and Poetry.

Day 5: Conceptual Threads Exhibition – guided walk throught the exhibit for Museum Volunteers and Guest.
